The title of this site recalls the words of Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” My aim here is simply to offer some articles that help call attention to the light found in Scripture, and the guidance it provides for our journey of life.

My interests are especially in Biblical Studies, the History of Christianity, Faith, and Discipleship, and they are reflected in the articles I post on this site.

I hope you find them helpful in your own studies.

Dan Petty has been preaching and teaching for more than fifty years, having served churches of Christ in Kentucky, Texas, Florida, and Georgia. For twenty years he served as an elder in the church. His work also includes thirty years on the faculty and administration of Florida College in Temple Terrace, Florida. In 2022, Dan and his beloved wife Kathy celebrated their golden anniversary of marriage. They have three children and eight grandchildren. In July 2025, the Pettys returned to Texas, where Dan began his work with the Westwood Village church in Sherman. Dan and Kathy enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, and exploring small towns and eating places.
